Hinshaw Music Sacred, May 2008

HMC2076

Hark! The Herald Angels Sing Concertato (arr. W. Pelz, SATB, congregation, organ, brass and timpani)

2.95

The combination of a Felix Mendelssohn tune to the Charles Wesley text is a classic. Known for his creative
ability in setting hymns in a  concertato style, Walter Pelz develops an exciting arrangement for large choir
with organ, brass, timpani, and even the congregation. This would make a terrific processional for your
Holiday Concert or Lessons and Carols.

HMC2145

New Year (J. Rutter, SATB, organ)

1.55

Written to honor Queen Elizabeth II on the occasion of her 80th birthday, John Rutter gives us a simple and
straightforward work true to the lyrical melodic style with which he is known and appreciated. For mixed
choir with organ, try it during any period of renewal, at the turn of the year, epiphany, or even during a
                  stewardship emphasis.

HMC2150

The Lord Is My Shepard (R. Lau, SATB, piano)

1.55

Robert Lau is known for his beautiful melodies and exquisite part writing, This setting of Psalm 23 is no
exception. Scored for divisi choir with piano, this is a must for every choir able to manage the divisi.

HMC2151

Lift Up, Lift Up Your Voices Now (L. Shackley, SATB, organ & opt. brass)

1.80

This is a fantastic new anthem for Easter! Larry Shackley has set the traditional text by John Mason Neale
for mixed choir with organ or optional brass (two trumpets and 2 trombones) and timpani.

HMC2152

Sweet Holy Child (K. Potter, SSA, sop solo, a cappella)

1.55

This work for treble choir was originally set for mixed voices (HMC1789). The serene simplicity of the piece
is quite effective. Try it with high school, college, or adult voices.

HMC2153

Find In Me (H. Hinnant, SSA, piano)

1.55

This work for treble choir was originally set for mixed voices (HMC1857). Very successful in this voicing,
try it with the women of your church choir during a period of revival or renewal. A fantastic accompaniment
                  for piano.

HMC2155

Now Thank We All Our God (D. Butler, SATB, keyboard & flute)

1.80

The work for mixed chorus with keyboard and flute (or any C instrument), takes the traditional
Catherine Winkworth text and sets it to a new and vibrant melody. Of course, the piece is great
for Thanksgiving but would also be effective during a stewardship, for the turn of the new year,
                  or for general use.

HMC2157 Ascription Of Praise (D. Schwoebel, TTBB, keyboard)

1.30

Male chorus singing is growing throughout the world. This work, originally set for mixed choir (HMC615)
on a text from Jude, is even more successful with a male chorus. Try it with all the men in your church choir
or for a male chorus festival.

HMC2158 Embraced Within Your Loving Arms (S. Callaway, SATB, piano)

1.80

During a period of turmoil and loss Cheryl Taylor wrote the text to this anthem inspired by Psalm 139
Her sister Susan has set the text for mixed voices with a lovely piano accompaniment. This piece would
be quite meaningful at a memorial service or during Holy Week

HMC2160 Lend Your Voice To The Song  (C. Nygard, SATB, organ or opt. brass quintet)

1.90

Looking for a work scored for chorus with brass quintet and organ, this is a real winner by composer
Carl Nygard. The text is taken from Psalms 148 and 150. This is a celebratory work appropriate for
                 any festival occasion.

HMC2161 My Jesus, I Love Thee  (D. Kreider, SATB, piano)

1.80

This is a very simple gem of an anthem set to a text known to many. The melody is beautiful and the well-crafted
modulations so appropriate. Try it almost any time of year or during the summer when rehearsal time is limited.

HMC2162 Give Thanks To The Lord (G. Hancock, SATB, organ)

1.55

For years Gerre Hancock was associated with St. Thomas Church in New York City. Now on the faculty of the
University of Texas, this is his first anthem in the Hinshaw catalogue. On a text from Isaiah, the work is scored
                 for organ and mature voices.

HMC2164 Lullay (V. Crescenz, SATB, div., soprano recorder)

1.80

Those of you familiar with the Hinshaw catalogue most likely know the work of Valerie Showers Crescenz.
In this work for divisi choir with soprano recorder the composer has truly found a new voice. This gentle
lullaby would be a wonderful addition to your Lessons and Carols next year.

HMC2165 Rocking (D. de Warrenne, SSA, piano)

1.55

British composer David de Warrenne is well known for his treble voice settings. Here, he gives us an
arrangement of the ever popular Czechoslovakian carol set for three part treble voices with piano.
Try it for your Lessons and Carols or holiday concert.

HMC2174 En Bolen Tocan A Fuego (T. Cunningham, SATB, piano)

1.80

This lovely Castilian carol is set in English (Bells In Bethlehem) for mixed voices and piano. The lyrical
melody in the slow section contrasts nicely with the spirited vivace. This would be an excellent choice
for your community chorus or school choir.

HMC2175 Los Pastores A Belen (T. Cunningham, SATB, piano)

1.80

The Spanish folk tradition is a rich source of melodic and rhythmic expression. This energetic arrangement for
mixed chorus with piano in Spanish or English (Eager Shepherds On Their Way). Try it on your holiday choral
concert along with HMC2174 and HMC1274. The exceptional accompaniment will highlight your fine pianist.

HMC2176 Only A Baby Came (Sleeth/arr, D. Giardiniere, SAB, piano & opt. sm orch)

1.55

Natalie Sleeth had a melodic gift that is appreciated still today. Here, David Giardinere sets the tune
for soprano, alto, and baritone (SAB) with piano or optional chamber orchestra. It is also available
                for SATB voices (HMC1980).

HMC2177 Where Can I Turn For Peace? (D. Bigler, SSAA, a cappella)

1.55

Looking for a work for advanced treble chorus, this a cappella work for SSAA (div) is successful in workshop
or concert settings alike. The thought provoking text is set to lush harmony with well crafted part writing.

Hinshaw Music Secular, May 2008

HMC2167 Erie Canal (V. Crescenz, 3 pt. mixed, piano)

1.80

For those of you who are middle school teachers this setting of the traditional American folk song is for you.
Valerie gives us a three part mixed voicing accompanied by piano. Try it during American Music Month
or to close a spring concert.

HMC2178 Come To Me, O My Love (A. Petker, SSA, piano)

1.55

There are more voicings available for this piece than any other work in the Hinshaw catalogue
(SATB, SAB, 2 part, and TBB). Now set for SSA voices with piano, the work is useful in
building independence amongst your singers.Great for a spring concert!
