Description
Drawing from passages from Psalms 46 and 47, this anthem begins with a declamatory
statement in the voices with short bitonal fanfares in the accompaniment. The main
section features a flowing melody in the voices with a driving bass in the accompaniment.
Care should be taken for intonation as chromaticism is abundant, though always
supported by the accompaniment.
The declaratory section returns to round out the piece before closing with the up-tempo
theme of “God Has Gone Up with a Shout.” Be careful in measure 63 as the rhythm for the text is diLerent from the preceding statements.
High energy is maintained throughout the anthem.
