The Voice of the Heart – SATB

This piece with text and music by composer Mark Butler is a new amazing contribution to choral works for advanced ensembles. Whether college-university, community, professional, or otherwise, THE VOICE OF THE HEART will engage the hearts and minds of singers who take up this challenge. Commissioned by the American Choral Directors Association Southern Division, the work calls for unaccompanied divisi mixed voices with solo voice and violin or flute. The interesting combination of text and texless choral singing is best expressed by the composer in the statement “The song can express what the heart longs to say when spoken words seem to fade away.”
