From acclaimed composer and musician, Dr. Dan Forrest comes the beloved American Folksongs Series, immortalizing and reviving historical emotions’ eternal themes. Forrest’s commissioned choral “Folk Songs of America,” diversely ranging from “Who Can Sail Without the Wind?” to “Long, Long, Ago” to “Skip to My Lou,” “How Firm A Foundation,” to colonial folksongs and more, reaches the heart and soul through Forrest’s formidable pairing of incisive writing and musical excellence.

Dr. Forrest’s internationally lauded and awarded work transcends genre and continent, and his music has been shared by the BBC, Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Center, Singapore and Japan, Italy, and the Netherlands. In “Folk Songs of America,” Forrest returns again to American roots to uncover deep notes of old trials and triumphs and unearth their modern relevancy and legacy.

Dr. Forrest was first introduced to the piano at age eight. Today his works are commissioned and performed across the globe, from “Requiem for the Living” to “Juliate Deo” to “The Dawn from on High” to “the breath of life”, culminating in his heartfelt series of American Folksongs, compositions musically heralding the past in the future and the present heart’s share in the past.

In his free time, Dr. Forrest serves at his Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church and nurses a secret passion for landscape gardening.
